In one of FCUSA New Jersey’s most anticipated dates of the year, the opening night of our Junior Academy program was a huge success.
The program was free to all and filled up very quickly with all 146 available places being taken at two locations. The Junior Academy program is designed for boys & girls aged 4-8, to improve fundamental soccer and motor skills.
Morristown-Beard School and The Willow School were the hosts. The beginning of the night started with a quick introduction to parents about the structure of the program. Fifteen members of our professional staff, and nine youth player volunteers got the players started with fundamental dribbling exercises to gain control of the ball. The night finished with fun scrimmages with no score-keeping. The staff were tasked not only on the technical skills like dribbling but to build up the children’s confidence and self esteem through their interaction, engagement and experience.
“We wanted this program to be a family and tight-knit club environment with interaction with older youth players and our friendly coaching staff,” said Martin Brown, FCUSA Director of Operations.
FCUSA’s professional coaching staff uses a nationally-developed curriculum to improve the fundamental soccer and motor skills. Our sessions are designed to improve a player’s technique and confidence in the game within a positive and fun developmental environment.
