It was a very busy and successful summer at FCUSA NJ. With only a few days remaining until our fall campaign, we are proud to announce a few changes to the club’s management structure.
Craig Barclay, our former assistant director of coaching, has accepted a new venture as a teacher at New Providence High School. Craig will remain with our club coaching the 2007 boys team.
Please join us in congratulating Stu Sharples, the newly promoted Boys Director of Coaching, and Angie Correia, a new member of staff named as the Girls Director of Coaching.
Stu, a 9 year coach with the organization said this about his new position, “I am excited to be taking on this new role having been with the club for a while now. The future is bright and I am grateful to be a part of it. I look forward to growing the club.”
Stu has been a tremendous role model for our youngsters practicing the club’s core values of teamwork, respect, integrity, and commitment on and off the field.
Angie coached the Union County College women’s soccer team for the past three seasons, with a record of 27-4-3 over the last two seasons. Last year, she guided UCC to both the Regional XIX and District E titles and finished 3rd at the National Championships out of 78 teams. Under her tutelage, UCC was also awarded United Soccer Division III South Region staff of the year. As a player, Angie represented the Portuguese National Team and played semi-professional soccer for New Jersey Wildcats.
“This opportunity is a blessing and it couldn’t come at a better time,” said Correia. FCUSA has a great foundation. I am fully invested in bringing my culture to FCUSA student-athletes and to continue building the program as a whole.”
To conclude, Dominic Rice will transition to oversee the club as the Technical Director of FCUSA/Steel United NJ and also the Regional Manager in NJ for Steel Soccer. Dominic will continue to coach his two club teams and work closely with Stu and Angie to keep the club moving forward.
